Storyline (Summary):  “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul” is a young adult novel by Jeff Kinney which recounts the instance of bad . summer road trip of Greg Heffley and his family.  The Long Haul” is the ninth installment in Kinney's “Wimpy Kid” series. When the novel begins, summer vacation has just gotten underway.

What I liked the best:  What I liked the best was when Gregory’s family tries to copy family things off magazines, like when they tried to have a barbeque and it ended up really bad.
What I didn’t like was when:  Their family trip to disneyland was postponed, I didn’t like it because I’ve never seen disneyland
My favourite character is:  My favourite character is Rodrick because he is really funny because he makes Gregory spew up because of his under wears.
Would I recommend this book:  Yes I would recommend this book because mostly everybody around the world are huge fans of Greg Heffley.

Olympic Art 2016

Screenshot 2016-09-22 at 10.25.51 AM.png

This is my olympic artwork,  all of Room 10 searched on Google and picked an athlete, and saved it to our Google docs. My athlete's name is Cristiano ronaldo, but some people call him CR7 for short.

After we all picked our athlete Miss Hills made a new doc for us to paste our athlete in and write similes and metaphors, and these are the similes I came up with: The trophy was as shiny as a polished diamond, His hair was as spunky as Michael Jackson's and lastly His pride was as strong as Lionel Messi’s, and these are the 2 metaphors I came up with: His smile lights up the stadium and his time is money. Do you know which ones are metaphors or similes… Metaphors describe something without like or as and it is a direct comparison.

The main thing about my olympic art was the tessellations.  I made my tessellations with triangles that made hexagons, the triangle had to be 3.8 cm.  I tried my hardest not to make it budget but I forgot to rub out the pencil marks, but it was a bit too late.  Anyways the olympic values are…

  • Excellence
  • Respect
  • Friendship

Drawing the triangles that made the hexagons were the hardest part, but my friends Philip, Musharraf, Turua and Benjamin just said “put the triangles in random places!”

Thanks

Hong Kong S.T.E.M Challenge

Materials
6 long sticks
1 wooden square
2 pipe cleaners
2 straws
1m ruler
11 plastic cube
Challenge #1 - Build a structure with a cube as the base:IMG_2064.JPG

Challenge one was hard because we had to put one block as our base on the bottom. It always fell down but next time we will but light object.

Challenge #2 - Build the tallest structure that you can and your base can be any size:IMG_2114.JPG

It was hard because the higher it goes it wobbles a little and because me, Darnell and Javahn we were all working on the same thing once and we did not work on talking to each other.

Challenge #3 -  Build a structure with something that balances off the side of it:IMG_2138.JPG
It was hard because the higher it goes it wobbles a little and because me, Darnell and Javahn we were all working on the same thing once and we didn’t work on talking to each other
It was hard because we kept knocking it over with our fat hands and because we kept on bumping the table with our hands.  This happened because Darnell banged the table with his.

Moment In Time Week 7

Today our teacher asked us to write a ‘Moment In Time’ piece using a picture of a boy in the water.  We planned as a class to make sure we had the 5 W’s and the 6 Senses.

Before we began our writing in small groups we discussed the importance of using descriptive writing, using similes and metaphors where appropriate, using dialogue and have done our best to make sure our punctuation is correct.  Some of us have even used ‘Show Don’t Tell’ in our writing to provide our reader with more of an experience.

Our teacher gave us 10 minutes for each paragraph and then 10 minutes for editing at the end.  We had so much fun working together!

If you have a moment, we would love you to comment on our writing.

Boy Overboard!

As Jack was fishing he caught a fish but it was to powerful for him so the fish pulled him into the sea.  The person that was driving the boat didn’t see Jack so he took of.  SPLASH!  Jack could smell diesel coming from the boat getting further and further.  Jack was panicking because he could see sharks crowding him, he was screaming for help “HELP HELP!

Jack was becoming one with the water.  As he was drowning he saw all kind of different fish looking at him.  He was even more terrified when he saw a whole group of piranhas.  The sharks was coming closer and closer to Jack.  So Jack tried to to swim but he couldn’t swim because he doesn’t like the water, so he passed out. He was thinking that he was going to die.

Out of nowhere a megalodon had rushed to Jack and taken a bite out of his arm.  “AHHHHHHHH”! Shouted Jack.  Jack could see the blood coming out from his arm.  “PLEASE LORD PLEASE HELP ME”! Jack screamed while drowning.  There was a light coming from the sky.  going towards the boy.

What we done well was working as a team and talking as a team

What I think I did well was help Kaleb and Patrick make some sentences.

Kaleb:
The thing that I did well was when I was talking to my buddy when we were writing.
